Priscilla Otti Launches N20m Support for Women with Disabilities

Priscilla Otti, the wife of Abia State Governor, announced a N20 million support initiative for 400 women living with disabilities during an outreach event in Umuahia on Friday. As the founder of the Safe Tent Care Initiative, Otti emphasized that the intervention aims to provide practical support to those facing economic hardship.

She highlighted the need for women with disabilities to receive equal attention as other women during community events. Otti identified various challenges faced by persons with disabilities, including unemployment and social exclusion.

Her office has engaged with the disability community since 2023, benefiting over 600 individuals through food and cash outreach in 2024 and providing business support to 100 entrepreneurs with disabilities in 2025. Otti announced a partnership with the National Directorate of Employment to train 200 women in vocational skills, reserving spots for women with disabilities.

She also mentioned plans for a community food bank in Abia to support vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities.
