Otti Urges Abia Women to Focus on Empowerment

During the Abia Women August Delegate Conference 2026 held in Umuahia, Abia State, Governor Alex Otti emphasized the importance of women as the foundation of the family and urged them to remain vigilant in child-rearing. He congratulated attendees and acknowledged the absence of some participants from the previous year.

Otti commended his wife, Priscilla Otti, for her contributions through women-focused programs, including a housing project that benefited 35 vulnerable women. He also mentioned the Thrive Business Challenge, which provided support to 10 women and consolation prizes to others.

Priscilla Otti encouraged women to move beyond mere survival to embrace growth and enterprise, highlighting that this year's programs addressed the root causes of vulnerability. She noted the importance of economic empowerment and skill acquisition for women, particularly those affected by gender-based violence.

The event aimed to instill business structure and compliance among participants, with every woman receiving ₦50,000 for entering the challenge.
