NAWOJ to Host Women in Security Summit in 2026

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) is organizing its inaugural Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC 2026) on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. Hajia Aishatu Ibrahim, the National Chairperson of NAWOJ, announced this during a press briefing in Abuja, emphasizing the summit's goal to celebrate women's contributions to peace and national security.

The event will gather distinguished figures from various sectors, including government, military, law enforcement, and civil society, to discuss emerging security threats and promote gender inclusion in security leadership. A significant aspect of the summit will be the awards conferred on individuals recognized for their contributions to national security and public safety.

Ibrahim stated that these awards are based on integrity and exceptional service, not political popularity. She called for support from corporate organizations and public institutions to help institutionalize a platform that promotes excellence and sustainable peace and security in Nigeria.
