Owan Stakeholders Protest Agbebaku's Resignation in Edo

Political stakeholders and concerned citizens from Owan Federal Constituency in Edo State protested the resignation of Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku from his position as speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

They claimed that the circumstances surrounding his exit reflected a broader pattern of political marginalization of the Owan people. The group expressed concerns regarding political pressure and interference in legislative affairs, warning that such actions could compromise the independence of the assembly and the constitutional principle of separation of powers.

Agbebaku resigned recently amid mounting political pressure and allegations regarding his leadership. His departure led to a change in the House's leadership and sparked reactions among political stakeholders across the state.

In a statement signed by Hon. Gordie Aigbodion on Monday, the Owan stakeholders expressed dissatisfaction with the circumstances that led to Agbebaku's resignation, alleging intimidation and executive arm-twisting as factors that pressured him to relinquish his position.
