Agbebaku Resigns as Edo Assembly Speaker for Personal Reasons

Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, the immediate past Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, announced his resignation from the position of Speaker of the 8th Assembly, citing personal reasons.

In a statement released to his media team, he affirmed that he maintained a cordial working relationship with all 23 other assembly members during his tenure. Agbebaku acknowledged that differences among members were natural due to individual identities and beliefs but stated that this did not hinder the passage of people-oriented Bills and Resolutions over the last three years.

He emphasized that his resignation was made in the interest of peace, the state, and his constituency, Owan West. Agbebaku expressed gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo for his support and reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and the state.

He called for calm among his supporters and congratulated the new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yekini Idaiye, urging peaceful coexistence among all lawmakers.
