Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected NBA President

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya has been elected as the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) after winning the 2026 national election with 12,317 votes, representing 47.18% of the total valid votes cast. She defeated fellow Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Lateef Akangb, who received 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, who garnered 5,855 votes.

Badejo-Okusanya will serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028, succeeding the outgoing leadership. She began her academic journey at the University of Lagos, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from 1983 to 1987, and later earned a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree in 2000.

Her legal career spans over two decades, with expertise in litigation, commercial law, and arbitration. She has held significant roles in the Lagos State Government and has been recognized as one of Nigeria's leading female legal practitioners.

Her presidency is expected to address issues related to judicial independence, legal practice reform, and the welfare of lawyers.
