Oyo Police Arrest 11 LAUTECH Students for Cultism

On Friday, the Oyo State Police Command arrested 11 students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso for alleged involvement in cultism and illegal possession of firearms. According to a statement from the police public relations officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlad, the suspects are believed to be members of the Eiye confraternity.

A thorough search at their hideout in the G Yuako Adenik area led to the recovery of several incriminating exhibits, including four locally fabricated pistols, eleven live cartridges, two cult axes, a cutlass, a dagger, and a red cult hood cap. The police acted on credible intelligence regarding a planned coordinated attack that could cause widespread unrest within the student community.

The suspects, who voluntarily confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity, were identified as Adedapo Victor (24), Taiwo Rashe (22), Emeka Issac (20), Akand Segundo (26), Julius Stephen (26), Opeyemi Fortun (22), Oluwatunmis Ayodeji (22), Oladimeji Akand (32), Mose Karim Kalid (20), and others. Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola, commended the police for their swift action in preventing potential violence.
