Police Arrest 11 LAUTECH Students for Cultism in Oyo

On Friday, the Oyo State Police Command arrested 11 students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso for suspected involvement in cultism. The arrests followed credible intelligence received by the command, leading to a thorough search of a hideout in the Yuako Adenik area.

The suspects, including Adedapo Victor (24), alleged leader, and Taiwo Rashe (22), alleged second-in-command, were apprehended while planning a coordinated attack within the student community. Police recovered several incriminating exhibits, including four locally fabricated pistols, eleven live cartridges, two cult axes, a cutlass, a dagger, and a red cult hood.

Following their arrest, the suspects voluntarily confessed to being members of the Dread Eiye Confraternity and were found to be involved in various cult-related criminal activities, including murder. The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola, commended the swift action of the police, which prevented a potential violent attack and assured that efforts to apprehend other members of the criminal network would continue.
