Oyo State Electoral Commission Sets January 16, 2027, for Local Government Elections

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has set January 16, 2027, as the date for conducting local government elections in Oyo State, Nigeria. The decision was made during an inaugural meeting at the commission's headquarters in Ibadan, chaired by Babatunde Adeniyi.

The elections will take place from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm across the 33 local government councils in the state. The tenure of chairmen and councillors in the councils will expire on May 23, 2027.

OYSIEC has urged stakeholders to support the commission in organizing free, fair, and transparent elections on January 16, 2027.
