Oyo State Partners to Enhance Foundational Education

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (Oyo SUBEB), under the leadership of Executive Chairman Dr Nureni Adeniran, has partnered with the Think Equal Organisation, a US-based NGO, and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to strengthen foundational education in the state. During a visit to Oyo SUBEB's headquarters in Ibadan, Adeniran discussed various interventions in pre-primary education, including the training of 320 Early Childhood Care, Development and Education (ECCDE) teachers across all 33 Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities (LGUBEAs) in Oyo State.

He credited the progress in the education sector to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, who has prioritized free and qualitative basic education, school infrastructure, and teacher welfare. The initiative will focus on the revised Learning Through Play pedagogy, enhancing holistic development in pre-primary education.

Beatrice Okei, Zonal Director of UBEC, noted the initiative's timing coincides with efforts to create a supportive environment for basic education. Anas Tahhan from Think Equal expressed confidence in the initiative's potential to foster responsible future leaders.
