UBEC Accelerates Basic Education Reforms in Kano State

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) is advancing basic education reforms in Kano State by delivering nearly 4,000 classrooms and collaborating strategically to strengthen the teaching workforce. Executive Secretary Aisha Garba made this announcement during education engagements in Kano, where she was joined by Minister of Education Dr.

Maruf Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Education Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, and Executive Governor of Kano State Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf. Garba highlighted that the construction of classrooms is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at expanding access to quality education.

She noted that over 16,000 teachers have been recruited by the current administration in Kano, addressing the teacher shortage, particularly in underserved communities. Garba emphasized that investments in teachers are crucial for improving learning outcomes, stating, “No child should be left behind.” The recruitment of new teachers is seen as a significant investment in the future of education in Nigeria.
