NSCDC Enhances School Security After Successful Rescue

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the protection of schools in Nigeria following the successful rescue of 44 abducted pupils and a teacher from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State. The operation, which took place on May 15, 2026, was described as a major breakthrough in the country's efforts to safeguard educational institutions against insecurity.

NSCDC Commandant General Prof. Ahm Abubakar Audi commended the collaborative efforts of various security agencies, including the National Counter Terror Centre (NCTC), Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and National Intelligence Agency (NIA). The NSCDC emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration and intelligence sharing in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of educational institutions.

Prof. Audi reiterated the NSCDC's dedication to preventing attacks on schools and called on the public to support security agencies by providing credible information to enhance national security.
