Oyo State Commits to Sustainable HIV Response Strategies

Dr Gbola Adetunji, Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OYSACA), announced the state's commitment to a sustainable HIV response at the third quarter meeting of the Oyo State HIV Resources Mobilisation Technical Working Group and Sustainability Plan Committee in Ibadan. He noted that changes in global health financing, donor transitions, and funding gaps necessitate the development of sustainable financing mechanisms for HIV prevention, testing, treatment, care, and support.

Adetunji emphasized the need for collaboration among government agencies, Local Government Areas (LGAs), development partners, non-governmental organizations, and private-sector organizations. Mr Adebowale Awakan, represented by Deputy Director Mustapha Ogunsola, stressed the importance of taxation, social responsibility, and program integration for domestic resource mobilization.

The meeting reviewed progress made in the third quarter of 2026, assessed resource gaps, and discussed strategies for enhancing the HIV response across Oyo State's 33 LGAs.
