Oyo State to Purchase 60,000 Laptops for WAEC CBT Transition

The Oyo State government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, is set to procure 60,000 laptops for public senior secondary schools in the state to facilitate the transition to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). This initiative, announced by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, is part of efforts to position Oyo State ahead in fully adopting CBT examinations.

The decision was made following a visit by the Deputy Registrar of WAEC, Wahe Amod, who commended the proactive measures taken by WAEC to address challenges experienced during the 2025 examinations. Schools interested in full CBT participation are expected to formally indicate their interest.

Amod also warned of severe penalties for candidates caught with mobile phones in the examination hall, emphasizing the need to uphold integrity and strengthen educational standards.
