Manny Pacquiao announced that his scheduled fight against Floyd Mayweather on September 19 in Las Vegas will not be an exhibition match, contrary to Mayweather's earlier remarks. Pacquiao, a Philippine boxing legend, expressed his desire for the bout to be a professional boxing match, emphasizing that it is intended to provide fans with a high-level competitive experience.

In a statement sent to AFP, Pacquiao clarified any misinformation regarding the nature of the upcoming fight, which is part of a long-awaited rematch following their 2015 encounter that generated 4.6 million pay-per-view buys. Ja Mathur, CEO of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, criticized Mayweather's comments during an ESPN interview, asserting that they constitute a breach of contract.

The fight is set to be broadcast by Showtime, and Pacquiao's team expects the original terms of their agreement to be honored.
