ADC Youth Wing Demands Justice Lifu's Removal from NJC

On June 18, 2026, the youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) submitted a formal petition to the National Judicial Council (NJC), demanding the removal of Hon. Justice Peter Odo Lifu.

This petition arises from a highly controversial ruling delivered by Justice Lifu, which ordered the deregistration of ADC and three other political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The ADC youth leader, Comrade Balarab Rufai, accused Justice Lifu of acting with political motivation and compromising the integrity of the judiciary.

The petition claims that the judgment was not based on honest legal principles and that it undermines democratic space in Nigeria. The ADC youth wing also expressed concerns over the integrity of the judiciary, alleging that Justice Lifu proceeded with the ruling despite a binding court appeal order.
