NDC Declares Itself Not a Personality Cult Amid Criticism

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) released a statement clarifying that it is not a personality-driven movement, following backlash from supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate for 2023. The NDC's National Executive Committee (NEC) convened to establish measures for managing internal governance, discipline, and financial matters.

The resolution confirmed the party's supremacy over appointments made through its platform, emphasizing that only staff appointments involving consultations with party leadership would be permitted. The NDC aims to create a permanent institution rather than an individual-centered platform, focusing on national interests.

Additionally, the NEC decided to form a national reconciliation committee to manage internal grievances and promote cooperation among members regarding financial matters. The party will ensure transparency in campaign contributions and fund management, with strict adherence to its operational guidelines.
