Nigerian Officials Criticized for Passing Security Buck to God

Major General Rabe Abubakar, a top security official, criticized the Nigerian government's approach to addressing insecurity, particularly the tendency to attribute solutions to divine intervention. This criticism followed comments made by Minister of State for Defence Mohammed Bello Matawalle, who suggested that only God could resolve Nigeria's security challenges.

Abubakar highlighted the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria, exemplified by the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State. He pointed out that this reliance on divine intervention is not a new phenomenon, recalling similar sentiments from the 1980s when Alhaji Isa Kaita suggested that God could solve Nigeria's corruption issues.

Abubakar emphasized that the government should take responsibility for addressing human problems rather than passing the buck to God. He also referenced the significant budget allocations for security and questioned why the government does not take more direct action to resolve these issues.
