RCCG Defends Adeboye's Comments on Tinubu and Security

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) issued a statement defending Pastor Enoch Adeboye's recent comments about President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria's security issues. Pastor Johnson Odesola clarified that Adeboye's remarks were misunderstood and unfairly portrayed, stemming from a short video clip circulated on social media.

The church maintained that Adeboye neither dismissed the security challenges facing Nigeria nor attempted to shield the president from criticism. Adeboye's comments, made during the Nigeria Faith Hero Award gala in Washington D.C., suggested that the president should not be expected to personally engage in military operations against terrorists.

Odesola explained that Adeboye's intention was to remind political leaders of their constitutional responsibilities. The RCCG leadership acknowledged the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria and called for the identification and prosecution of those financing terrorism.

They urged critics to avoid distorting Adeboye's comments and emphasized the importance of collective action to address the nation's security challenges.
