Pastor Enenche Rejects Claims of Christian Inferiority in Nigeria

Senior Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre has rejected the notion that Christianity occupies a lower position than other faiths in Nigeria. Speaking during a Sunday service at the church's Abuja headquarters, Enenche responded directly to recent statements by Islamic cleric Sheikh Yahya Jingir regarding support for a Muslim-Muslim presidential arrangement for the 2027 elections.

Enenche emphasized that Christians in Nigeria represent a substantial portion of the population and should not be treated as a subordinate religious group. He characterised the framing of Christianity as secondary to any other religion as fundamentally unacceptable, asserting that Christian citizens hold equal standing in the national context.

Beyond his religious assertions, Enenche directed criticism toward Nigeria's security agencies. The pastor argued that law enforcement bodies should have questioned Sheikh Jingir regarding statements that Enenche described as capable of inciting religious tensions and destabilising national peace.

Enenche presented this inaction by security agencies as a failure in their responsibility to prevent potentially divisive rhetoric. The remarks from Enenche, shared via social media on Sunday, represent part of broader reactions to Jingir's statements about political arrangements for the upcoming election cycle.

Enenche's position signals ongoing contention within Nigeria's religious communities regarding political representation and the status of different faith groups in national affairs.
