Nigeria's Health Minister Discusses Emergency Helicopters with Airbus

On a visit to France, Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, engaged in discussions with Airbus regarding the procurement of emergency medical helicopters for Nigeria. This meeting is part of a broader plan approved by President Bola Tinubu to develop an integrated national ground and air emergency response system.

During his visit, Pate inspected Airbus's emergency care helicopters and outlined the federal government's strategy to strengthen emergency medical services across Nigeria. He emphasized the need to expand public-private health infrastructure, which includes revamping the emergency medical services and ambulance schemes in urban and rural areas.

The initiative involves collaboration with the health sector, civil aviation authorities, and military to build a sustainable emergency response framework. Pate noted that the proposed system aims to enable faster responses to critical medical conditions, such as heart attacks and strokes, particularly in areas with limited access to advanced healthcare facilities.
