PDP Denies Merger Claims with APM Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has officially denied reports of a merger with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. During a press conference held on Tuesday, PDP's Legal Adviser, Yahaya Garkuwa, labeled the merger claims as false.

He accused members of a rival faction of impersonating party officials and disseminating misleading information to create confusion among party members and the public. Garkuwa asserted that the PDP structure in Bauchi is led by Ibrahim Kashim Toro, while the national leadership recognized by this faction is headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed.

He also mentioned that the ongoing crisis within the PDP has been escalated to various levels of the judiciary, with the Federal High Court previously recognizing the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee at the national level. The Court of Appeal has upheld this leadership, confirming both the national and Bauchi State leadership under Hon. Ibrahim Kashim Toro.
