Two PDP Chieftains Resign Ahead of 2027 Elections

On August 2, 2026, Hon. Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, a former Chairman of Funakaye Local Government Area and former PDP Chairman in the council, announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Bajoga West Ward.

He stated that his decision followed “careful reflection and personal consideration” and requested the removal of his name from the party’s membership register. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party in various capacities and wished the party success in future endeavors.

Following him, on August 3, 2026, Hon. Mohammed Babani Bajoga, the PDP Assistant Secretary in Gombe State, also announced his resignation in a letter to the PDP Chairman of Bajoga East Ward.

He indicated that his resignation was final and thanked the party for the opportunity to serve. Neither Yusuf nor Bajoga disclosed the reasons for their departures or their future political plans.
