PDP Candidate Adebayo Withdraws, Backs Adeleke for Election

Adedamola Adebayo, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), announced his withdrawal from the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election during a press conference in Osogbo. He declared his support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party.

Adebayo's decision, made three days before the election, followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders and a careful assessment of the state's situation. He emphasized that his choice was made in the broader interest of Osun State rather than personal political ambitions.
