PDP Prepares for Plateau Local Government Elections 2026

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has announced its preparedness for the local government elections set for January 10, 2026, asserting that the party remains a strong and united entity despite recent political developments, including defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. This declaration was made during a joint strategic engagement involving members of the state caucus and the state executive committee at the PDP secretariat.

A communiqué issued after the meeting highlighted the party's focus on strengthening internal cohesion and outlined a roadmap for the upcoming elections. The PDP leadership reaffirmed its confidence in the party's structure and ideological foundation.

Additionally, a seven-member disciplinary committee was inaugurated on February 21, 2026, to investigate allegations of defections and breaches of party constitution. The PDP is actively mobilizing grassroots support to uphold its values of equity and justice, aiming to maintain its relevance in Plateau State's political landscape.
