Imo APC Calls Wike a Democracy Threat Amid Coalition Support

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has described Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, as a threat to Nigeria’s democracy due to his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid through the Rainbow Coalition. Chief Austin Onyedebelu, the Imo State APC Chairman, stated that Wike cannot belong to both the APC and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) simultaneously, urging him to choose one party.

He accused Wike of using the Rainbow Coalition to bolster his alleged presidential ambitions. In response, Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications, dismissed the APC's claims.

The PDP in Imo, represented by Publicity Secretary Hon. Lancelot Obiaku, countered that those opposing the Rainbow Coalition are the real threats to democracy, emphasizing that the political space should accommodate diverse voices and that the PDP supports informed citizen choices.
