Peter Obi Condemns Attacks in Benue, Plateau, Niger

Peter Obi, the 2027 Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, condemned the recent deadly attacks in Benue, Plateau, and Niger states, expressing grave concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria. In a statement on his X handle, Obi highlighted the attacks as evidence of a broader national security crisis requiring immediate government intervention.

He reported that in Plateau State's Mangu Local Government Area, at least 23 people were officially killed, with local reports suggesting the death toll could exceed 30, alongside the destruction of over 45 houses. In Niger State, more than 40 people were allegedly killed and over 100 abducted in Borgu.

Obi criticized the ongoing violence, questioning why Nigeria is not officially at war while citizens face such brutal attacks. He urged the Federal Government and state authorities to enhance security measures, improve intelligence, and ensure the rescue of abducted individuals.

Obi emphasized that protecting lives and property is the government's fundamental responsibility.
