Peter Obi Will Concede Defeat If 2027 Polls Are Fair

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), announced that he would concede defeat in the 2027 elections if the polls are conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. He emphasized that the decision of who leads Nigeria should rest with the people, stating, "I will respect the will of the people; that’s democracy." During an interview with Arise News on Thursday, Obi maintained that he won the 2023 presidential election, claiming that the results were manipulated.

He asserted, "I did, and I will maintain that as long as I live that I won the 2023 election." Obi also stressed that leadership should be based on qualification and competence rather than religion or ethnicity. He highlighted his educational background, mentioning prestigious institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Columbia, and Kellogg.

Furthermore, he called for increased youth representation in Nigeria's leadership, noting that no individual born after 1960 has served as president since Nigeria's independence.
