Peter Obi Demands Action Against Plateau State Killings

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, urged the Federal Government to take decisive action to end the killings and displacement in Plateau State, where around 45,000 residents from over 20 communities have been forced from their homes. During a sympathy visit to a community in Mangu Local Government Area on Tuesday, Obi described the prolonged displacement as unacceptable and emphasized that the existence of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) reflects the government's failure to ensure safety.

He stated, “As long as you are in an IDP camp, Nigeria is in an IDP camp.” Obi called for government action to address the violence, asserting that the perpetrators are known and should be dealt with. He expressed concern over the humanitarian impact, noting the negative effects on education due to the displacement.

This visit marked Obi's third to affected communities, where he previously contributed to building a school and providing water. He assured the displaced persons of his continued support and solidarity.
