Obi Urges Government Action on Insecurity in Plateau State

Peter Obi, the NDC candidate, visited an attacked community in Mangu local government council, Plateau State, to express sympathy for displaced persons affected by insecurity. He stated that the Nigerian government has failed to adequately secure its citizens and facilitate their return to ancestral homes.

Obi emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Government to address the killings and kidnappings causing widespread displacement, particularly in Plateau and Benue states. He noted that approximately 45,000 individuals from over 20 communities have been displaced, which he deemed unacceptable.

Obi urged other presidential candidates to visit IDP camps to witness the conditions firsthand. He reassured the displaced persons that they are not alone and pledged ongoing support.

While acknowledging the role of prayers in seeking solutions, he stressed that the government must take decisive action against those responsible for the violence. This visit marked Obi's third trip to the area, where he has previously contributed to building schools and providing water.
