Obi Urges Return of 45,000 Displaced Persons in Plateau

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), visited an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, where over 500 displaced persons are currently accommodated. He called on the Federal Government to enhance efforts to secure communities impacted by terrorism and create conditions for the safe return of more than 45,000 displaced individuals.

Obi expressed concern over the situation, noting that over 20 communities had been sacked by terrorists. He emphasized that the right to life, safety, and dignity should be protected for all Nigerians, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.

Obi warned against allowing displaced Nigerians to become forgotten victims of the country’s security challenges and stressed the need for government support to help them rebuild their lives. He offered modest support to the displaced families during his visit and reiterated his vision for a Nigeria where citizens can live without fear.
