Igbo Mandate Movement Defends Kalu Against Petition Attack

The Igbo Mandate Movement has publicly condemned a petition filed against Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, describing it as a targeted attack on a prominent Igbo lawmaker.

The petition, initiated by former Nigerian Bar Association Vice President John Aikpokpo Martin, requests a review of Kalu's professional qualifications and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) history. The group, led by National Coordinator Napoleon, asserts that this petition is part of a long-standing smear campaign against Kalu, which dates back to his initial appointment as a commissioner in Abia State and subsequent election as a representative.

They highlight Kalu's educational background, including his graduation from the University of Calabar in 1998 and his NYSC service in 2010, emphasizing his commitment to both his legal career and public service. The Igbo Mandate Movement calls for reforms to support students in the NYSC and law school, criticizing the systemic issues that hinder their progress.
