Accountant General Alleges Hijacking of PFIPC Letter

Ogunjimi, the Accountant General of the Federation, testified before a committee investigating the PFIPC controversy and the N1.3 billion allocated to the council in the 2026 Appropriation Act. He stated that Adeyemi claimed to have received an appointment letter as PFIPC Director-General from Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, which Gbajabiamila denied.

Ogunjimi revealed that a request from the State House for an administrative code to facilitate budgeting was intercepted by Adeyemi, preventing the response from reaching the State House. He noted that the documents submitted by the council's promoters were allegedly forged, including a fake Act purportedly enacted by the National Assembly and a fake letter of appointment.

Ogunjimi explained that treasury officials acted in good faith, believing the request originated from the Presidency. He also mentioned that two treasury officials had been absorbed by the fake agency without the treasury's knowledge.
