AGF Summoned Over PFIPC Inclusion in 2026 Budget

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee has summoned the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Babatunde Ogunjimi, to appear on Monday regarding the controversial inclusion of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council/Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PFIPC/PEAC) in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

This follows an invitation from the committee's Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, after testimonies from key officials raised questions about the Office of the Accountant-General and the Head of Civil Service for the Federation, Mrs.

Didi Esther Walson-Jack. The committee aims to investigate how the council, whose legal status is under scrutiny, was incorporated into the national budget.

Dr. Yakubu Tanimu, Director-General of the Budget Office, stated that the Budget Office did not create or insert the council into the budget but reflected fiscal implications from official instruments.

He indicated that the council was assigned an administrative budget code by the OAGF prior to the budget preparation, and the Head of Civil Service had approved its establishment and recruitment waiver.
