Pharma Symbiosis Trains Oyo Health Workers on Infections

Pharma Symbiosis, an African multinational healthcare company, partnered with the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board to train health workers, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacy technicians, on identifying and managing respiratory infections. The training emphasized the importance of understanding antimicrobial resistance and the appropriate use of antibiotics.

Oluwasefunmi Oreoluwa Oladapo, Brand Manager of Pharma Symbiosis, stated that strengthening primary healthcare is vital for improving community health outcomes. The training provided participants with practical tools to identify respiratory infection symptoms and determine the need for referrals.

Oladapo highlighted the significance of distinguishing between viral and bacterial infections to prevent inappropriate antibiotic use, particularly given the burden of respiratory infections among children under five. He warned that indiscriminate antibiotic use could lead to increased resistance.

Pharma Symbiosis aims to establish a long-term partnership with the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board to ensure access to quality medications for the citizens of Oyo State.
