Philippe Coutinho, aged 33, has announced his exit from Vasco da Gama, citing mental exhaustion after a challenging week. This decision follows an incident where he was substituted during a match against Volta Redonda FC, which resulted in jeers from a section of the crowd.

Coutinho expressed that the reaction affected him deeply, leading to his choice to prioritize his mental health. He began his football journey at Vasco, where he made his professional debut and later secured a move to Inter Milan as a teenager.

Coutinho's career includes significant stints at Liverpool FC, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, and Al Duhail SC. He returned to Vasco in 2024, featuring 81 times and scoring 17 goals.
