Nigerian Navy Dismantles Illegal Fuel Facility in Rivers

The Nigerian Navy conducted an operation in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, dismantling an illegal fuel storage and distribution facility. Approximately 13,000 litres of product suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil were recovered.

This operation was executed by personnel from Forward Operating Base BONNY under Operation Delta Sentinel. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, stated that the facility contained large-capacity storage tanks, reservoirs, drums, hoses, and other equipment used for unlawful handling and distribution of petroleum products.

Folorunsho emphasized that the illegal facility was linked to criminal activities undermining Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure. Ongoing investigations aim to identify individuals connected to the operation.

The Navy described this operation as a significant milestone in its campaign against crude oil theft and illegal oil bunkering, reaffirming its commitment to protecting national assets and enhancing crude oil production and revenue.
