One Dead, One Injured in Lagos Building Collapse, Truck Crash

On Friday, a partial building collapse occurred at No. 1 Josephin Fingesi Street off Wole Olateju Street in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, resulting in one confirmed death and nine individuals affected. Seven adult males were rescued alive, while one adult male was confirmed dead at the scene.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) spokesperson, Olawal Afolabi, reported that search and rescue operations were ongoing, with efforts to ensure no victims remained trapped under the rubble. In a separate incident on Thursday night, a truck carrying a 40-foot container suffered brake failure on Old Abeokuta Road, leading to a collision with a Toyota Highlander.

The driver of the Highlander sustained severe fractures to his leg and left arm but was rescued alive. Two other occupants of the Highlander escaped uninjured.

The truck accident occurred around 10:40 PM, and normal traffic was restored by Friday.
