Osborn Umahi Sworn in as Ohaozara LG Chairman

Osborn Umahi, aged 28 and the son of David Umahi, the former Governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, was sworn in as the Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area on August 22, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru and attended by various political leaders and dignitaries, including David Umahi.

Osborn Umahi won the chairmanship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, which secured all 13 chairmanship positions in the local government elections. In his campaign, he promised to prioritize infrastructure development, youth empowerment, business support, and improved basic services.

Notably, he pledged to forgo his salary and allowances throughout his tenure, emphasizing his commitment to public service over personal financial gain. Osborn holds a degree in civil engineering from the University of Surrey and a master’s degree in finance and investment management from the University of Aberdeen.
