Pi-CNG Supports Tinubu's CNG Initiative to Cut Fares
The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu's and state governors' efforts to lower transportation costs in Nigeria by utilizing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Following discussions with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Tinubu announced that governors resolved to implement measures leveraging CNG's cost advantages.
The federal government has invested in transitioning over 120,000 vehicles to CNG and plans to introduce an additional 500 CNG refueling stations, aiming for a total of 1,000 nationwide. The Pi-CNG office reported that over 100 gas projects are financed through the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF), including 15 CNG mother stations and 86 daughter stations.
Ismaeel Ahmed, Executive Chairman/Chief Executive of Pi-CNG & EV, emphasized the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to maximize the benefits of the CNG ecosystem for citizens.
