Stakeholders Advocate for Oil and Gas Community Partnerships

Stakeholders have urged for strategic partnerships between host communities and oil/gas companies to foster trust and development, particularly in the context of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). This call was made during a forum organized by Keffesso in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, which included representatives from 11 host communities in the Southern Ijaw and Brass Local Government Areas.

King Mose Theophilus, the traditional ruler of Moko Ama Sangana Akassa Kingdom, highlighted the successes and challenges faced in implementing the PIA. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to achieve developmental objectives.

The forum also discussed the need for local community participation in contracts and employment opportunities to build sustainable capacities. Ademola Adeyemi Bero, representing Keffesso, noted that their interventions include health and education programs benefiting community members.

The NCDMB pledged continued support for host communities, while Governor Douye Diri emphasized the importance of clear vision and unity among community leaders to drive progress in the oil and gas sector.
