Libya Deports 80 Nigerians Over Illegal Stay in Ongoing Effort to Curb Irregular Migration

Libyan authorities deported 80 Nigerian migrants who were held in various detention centers across the country due to illegal stay. The deportation exercise was part of ongoing efforts to combat irregular migration and ease overcrowding in holding facilities.

The Department for Combatting Illegal Migration (DCIM) coordinated the repatriation exercise in collaboration with the Nigerian consulate in Tripoli. The deportations followed judicial directives issued by the Libyan authorities, with the migrants awaiting deportation organized for transfer.

The Nigerian consulate provided support for the repatriation of the 80 Nigerian nationals via the Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli.
