Plateau Governor Mutfwang Visits Attack Site, Promises Security

On Thursday, following a deadly attack on August 18, 2026, that resulted in the deaths of 25 individuals in Bin Mper Community, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the area to express condolences to the victims' families. He described the attack as “barbaric, senseless and unacceptable,” and assured residents that his administration would implement stronger security measures to prevent future incidents.

Mutfwang emphasized that the attack was a direct challenge to the government's commitment to protecting lives and property. He noted that some arrests had been made and pledged to pursue the matter thoroughly.

The governor had recently reviewed the state’s security architecture with the new General Officer Commanding of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army. He also visited the paramount ruler of Mangu, Da John Putmang Hirse, to offer sympathy.

Hirse condemned the attack, stating that the victims were asleep when killed, and affirmed the community's commitment to peace despite the violence.
