Police Arrests Made After Deadly Plateau Community Attack

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang confirmed that police have arrested individuals connected to the deadly attack on Bin Mper Community in Kombun District, Mangu Local Government Area, which occurred on August 18, 2026. During his visit to the community on Thursday, Mutfwang described the attack as barbaric and unacceptable, emphasizing that it was not only an assault on the community but also a challenge to his administration's commitment to security.

He assured residents that the government would pursue justice following the arrests and enhance security measures to prevent future attacks. Mutfwang stated that the incident followed a review of Plateau's security architecture in collaboration with the Nigerian Army's 3 Division.

He pledged that residents would be protected on their ancestral land and that no one would be allowed to take over their territory. Traditional ruler Da John Putmang Hirse condemned the attack as deliberate, while Grace Joseph Gora, President of the Mwaghavul Development Association Women’s Wing, also condemned the killings.
