Plateau State Government Defends Mutfwang's Igbo Remarks

The Plateau State Government issued a statement defending Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang regarding his controversial remarks made during an engagement with Igbo community leaders. The government, represented by Dr. Gyang Bere, stated that Mutfwang's comments were misrepresented and taken out of context.

The governor's statements were intended to foster reconciliation and national unity, acknowledging the contributions of the Igbo community to Plateau State's development. The government clarified that Mutfwang did not seek to diminish any ethnic group's experiences or distort historical realities of the Nigerian Civil War.

The government also highlighted Plateau's history of accommodating diverse ethnic groups and aligned Mutfwang's approach with Yakubu Gowon's post-war policies.

It urged Nigerians to reject distorted interpretations of the governor's remarks that could incite ethnic divisions.
