Igbo Group Supports Mutfwang's Civil War Apology

The Izu Umunna Cultural Association (IUCA), an Igbo socio-cultural organization, has expressed support for Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang following his apology to the Igbo people regarding the events of the Nigerian Civil War.

During a visit from Igbo leaders, Mutfwang urged the Igbo community to move past historical grievances and work towards national unity and development. He stated, “I apologise to the Igbos so that we can put the past behind us and continue to foster unity.” His apology has faced criticism from various ethnic groups, including some from Plateau State, who feel it unfairly places the burden of the Civil War on them.

In response, IUCA, through its President Ichie Jerry Egede and Secretary Mazi Jude Owuamanam, praised Mutfwang's courage in addressing a sensitive issue that has long been avoided. They called for Igbo support for the Plateau State government and emphasized the need for peace and reconciliation among Nigeria's diverse ethnic groups.
