Police Arrest 10 for Attempted Murder in Osun State

The Osun State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in two separate operations related to violent crimes in Modakeke and an invasion of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. Four suspects—Olufemi Olatunji (39), Ajayi Idowu (31), Akingbala Oluwakemi (40), and Adekunle Basirat (40)—were arrested around 2am on August 9, 2026, for conspiracy, attempted murder, assault occasioning harm, and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms.

Police recovered a locally manufactured cut-to-size firearm from Basirat’s shop and a pump-action gun from Oluwakemi’s residence. Basirat is identified as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, known as “Indomine,” and Oluwakemi is the wife of Akingbala Akindele, alias “Ostand.” In a separate operation, the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested six suspects—Ajoba Akorede (27), Adam Oseni (27), Ogunrinde Ayomide (21), Ogunlana Muheez (26), Ajose Noah (25), and Adeniyi Damola (25)—following an armed invasion at the polytechnic, resulting in injuries to two students.

Akorede and Oseni confessed to belonging to the Aye confraternity. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted after completion of the investigations.
