Police Arrest 10 for Violent Crimes Ahead of Election

The Osun State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in two separate operations related to violent crimes in Modakeke and an invasion of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. Four suspects—Olufemi Olatunji (39), Ajayi Idowu (31), Akingbala Oluwakemi (40), and Adekunle Basirat (40)—were apprehended in Modakeke on August 9, 2026, for conspiracy, attempted murder, assault occasioning harm, and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms.

Police recovered a locally manufactured cut-to-size firearm from Basirat's shop and a pump-action gun from Oluwakemi's residence. Basirat is identified as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, known as "Indomine," while Oluwakemi is the wife of Akingbala Akindele, alias "Ostand." In a separate operation, six suspects were arrested for an alleged invasion of the Osun State Polytechnic, resulting in injuries to two students.

The suspects, including Ajoba Akorede (27) and Adam Oseni (27), confessed to belonging to the Aye confraternity. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted after completion of the investigations.
