Osun Police Arrest 27 Suspects Over Political Thuggery

The Osun State Police Command has arrested 27 suspects in connection with political thuggery, cultism, and theft of government property across the state. Police Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan disclosed this during a press briefing in Osogbo on Monday.

The arrests are part of an intensified effort to combat violent crime and strengthen security in preparation for the 2026 elections. Of the 27 suspects, 24 are alleged to be involved in cult-related killings and acts of political thuggery in various parts of the state.

Commissioner Gotan warned cultists and political criminals to desist from activities that could disrupt public peace, stating that they would face the full weight of the law. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to maintaining peace during the upcoming elections and emphasized that the police will remain professional, neutral, and non-partisan.
