Police Arrest 11 Cattle Rustlers, Recover 40 Animals in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected cattle rustlers, including two Nigerien nationals, Muhammad Musa, 32, and Musa Hassan, 35, during coordinated operations across Gwiwa, Hadejia, Gwaram, and Taura Local Government Areas. The operations, based on credible intelligence and distress calls, resulted in the recovery of 40 animals, comprising 27 sheep, 10 goats, and 3 cows.

The police spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Wednesday in Dutse, the state capital. The suspects were apprehended before they could dispose of the stolen animals, which have been taken into police custody for ongoing investigations.

Additionally, two vehicles allegedly used by the suspects were recovered. The police are working to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate who escaped.

The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their professionalism and emphasized the command's commitment to dismantling criminal networks involved in cattle rustling.
